I stood frozen in my spot, unable to move. I never knew that I could be so terrified. I stared into the cold, murderous eyes, as they locked on my throat.I swollowed the lump in my throat. I finally knew what people meant when they said that they were facing death. I was only slightly aware of my violantly shaking hands, and my heart pouded loudly in my chest.
The blue healer took a step forward, a low growl rumbling deep in his throat.
I opened my mouth to scream, but nothing came out. I shut my mouth as the dog sauntered forward, ready to attack.
I jerked awake and looked around to find myself back in my room. I sat up, sweat running down my face, soaking my hair. The scar that ran along the left side of my face, from beside my left eye all the way down to my lips throbbed. I had gotten attacked by a blue healer when I was just four years old. I didn't remember the attack all that well but I know that my life had been on the line. Everytime I looked in the mirror, I was reminded of that day oh so long ago.
I touched the scar, running my fingers along it, hoping to reduce the pain. I found it weird that nearly 11 years after the accident that I would start having nightmares about it now. I crawled out of my bed, and walked out into the hallway, stopping towards the last room on the hall, and looking inside. I frowned. I missed Justin, although it had been close to 9 years since he had moved out.
I sighed. The house was so empty now. Samantha had moved off to with some guy, and she barely ever came around anymore. Justin had gotten married at 22 to Beth Hampton. They were such a wonderful couple. They had been together since they were 16 years old and had been through pretty much everything. I wanted a guy that looked at me the way that Justin looked at Beth, even after there many years together. It was like the first time that he had ever saw her.
I walked back into my room and sat down, looking over at the clock. It read 5:20a.m. I picked up my cell phone and dialed Justin's number. I didn't like waking him up but he told me that any night I needed him, no matter what time it was that I could call him and he would always be there.
The phone only rang once before Justin's voice came cheerfully from the other line. "Lilithy" he said.
"Hey Justin" I said, my voice still shaky, the dream still lingering in my head.
"Whats wrong baby sis?" he asked, and I heard the scraping of wood against tile as he pulled a chair back to sit down in.
"I had a nightmare" I said feeling like a little kid. My mother had a video of me and Justin when I was newly four years old. I was laying in his bed and he was singing me to sleep. Me and him had always been very close, and when he had moved out when I was six years old I remembered having a huge fit.
"I'm sorry, do you want me to sing to you?" he asked, no sign of teasing in his voice, just worry.
"No i'll be ok, I'm sorry I woke you up" I said, laying back down in my bed, feeling better just talking to him.
"You didn't, I was already up, Trent has a cold" he said and I heard him sigh.
Trent was Justin's youngest son as of right now. He wastwo years old. He was the cutest little boy, and he could talk way better than I could at age four with my speech impediment, that had taken me years to get over. Trent was almost a little replica of Justin, with sandy blonde hair and striking blue eyes. Then there was Chase, Justin's oldest son, he was five. and took more after Beth. He had dark brown hair and big brown eyes, he would definetly be a heartbreaker when he was older, and now Beth was expecting again. They refused to find out the sex of the baby, wanting to keep it a surprise, although everyone was sure that it was going to be another boy, because they wanted a girl so bad.
"Aw, I hope he gets better soon" I said. Justin's boys were about the cutest things in the world. They were both polite, but they could have that wild side about them to. I didn't mind babysitting them. Justin always got worried sick when one of them were sick. "I'll let you get off where you can go and tend to him" I said after a few moments pause.
"Lily, you know that I'll always make as much time for you as you need. You're my little sister. You're my Lilithy" he said.
"Thanks" I said lightly.
I hung up the phone and then closed my eyes deciding for a couple more minutes of sleep before I had to wake up for school. As soon as I closed my eyes the vivid image of a large blue healer crept into my eyes and I decided that I would have to make due with the amount of sleep I already had.
