We live in a world where colours dominate our lives, right from our cosmetics to the fruits we eat and clothes we wear. Colours affect our moods. They simply come from light and are made of different wavelengths and frequencies. They have been used for more than 2000 years.
The ancient Egyptians used colours for cures and ailments. Greeks considered colour as a science, especially Hippocrates. The Chinese practice Colour Healing. Aristotle discovered by mixing two colours, a third is produced. Plato and Pythagoras studied light. Paracelsus reintroduced knowledge of colours. Isaac Newton was a pioneer in colour.
World Colour Day is held annually on June 21 worldwide. Have you ever wondered what the colours mean to you? That glorious rainbow made of seven main colours (VIBGYOR) or the paints around you – all have a tale of their own to tell.
Colour is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. The science of colours is called chromatics. Many special people have synesthesia, where alphabets and numbers are seen in colours.
The use of colours as a therapy (be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual) is truly a powerful one for better health and can be found in texts from India, China and Egypt:
* Red heals blood disorders, promotes vitality and creativity
* Orange heals lungs and kidneys, promotes assimilation
* Yellow heals stomach and liver, promotes intellect
* Green heals heart and hypertension, promotes unconditional love
* Blue heals thyroid and larynx, promotes self-expression
* Indigo heals eye diseases and vision, promotes psychic abilities
* Violet heals mental disorders, promotes spirituality
The numbers and letters associated with colours are given below:
0 -, -, - WHITE
1 A, J, S RED
2 B, K, T ORANGE
3 C, L, U YELLOW
4 D, M, V GREEN
5 E, N, W BLUE
6 F, O, X INDIGO
7 G, P, Y VIOLET
8 H, Q, Z PINK
9 I, R, - GOLD
So, what do colours tell about you? They give you a better understanding of yourself. Rediscover yourself through colours. Lookout for your zodiac and find your corresponding colour. This is all for fun and enjoyment. Let’s take a peek!

I'm a Taurus, and I agree with this insightful and magical post. Strong minded and stubborn, no question about it.

i enjoyed this cheeky chops , i'm afraid i'm a doubting thomas where astrology is concerned . i had a personal reading many years ago . lady said i was a typical leo and should seek a saggittarian mate , what a load of old tosh that was . the ladies i met were lovely but lets just say ... not for me ... seems i'm not a typical leo . i'm stubborn .. determined and a show off , yes thats all true of me but i'm also very soft hearted and hate confontation , so why pair me with the exact opposite , at least thats my experience thus far .
Posted: Aug 25, 2008
awesome! I'm blue! and I LOVE the colour too! muahahaha ^^ this is a really great essay! yeah, i agree! Life is definitely colourful :)

Good...!!
......This article forced me to write something which I have found from my life.....ur calculation has supported my vision. i.e. If u read Hindu mythology u would find that there are seven energy points in the our microbody (Not physical). These points are called "CHAKRA" From lowest point to uppermost are as below with name and VIRTUAL location
1) MULADHAR CHAKRA -----Perinium
2) SWADISHTHAN CHAKRA -----Pubic
3) MANIPURAK CHAKRA -----Neval
4) ANAHAT CHAKRA -----Heart
5) VISHUDH CHAKRA ------Throat
6) AGYAN CHAKRA ------middlle of two eyebrows
7) SAHSRSAR CHAKRA ---- Head (Where a Hindu keep a long hair tail)
These energy points are related with their own significance......one of them as Bubbly has mentioned ie. the color values .....Since Violet is representing spritulity, so it should be related with SAHSRSAR CHAKRA, Indigo with AGYAN CHAKRA ..and so on. You can notice from points 1 to 7 these points(CHAKRAs) are making virtually a colour SPECTRUM "VIBGYOR"..... initially I were thinking that there should be some connection...between this colour SPECTRUM and energy points (CHAKRAs). BUBLLY has verified this ...thanks

I like it, Bubbly! It made me happy just thinking about the colors!
Posted: Aug 26, 2008
Hello Bubbly,
I really enjoyed and liked reading this most colourful and informative essay! I also like very much the way that you write and express your opinions and thoughts!
I am the true and typical Aquarius! Some say odd and/or strange(funny & weird) But, who cares? (Ha ha ha) Anyway, everything said about the colour violet fits me to the "T" and really says it all. Amethyst and clear quartz have been my favorites for as long a I can remember! Always had a thing for Turquoise too! Don't know why?
We are born into this world of colourful beauty. Colour is everywhere in our daily lives and in our dreams but, I do know that some people dream in black and white. Not sure why?
I also know that some people are born color blind and again, I am not sure why? The only time when I am colour blind is when it comes to a person's colour and race. Maybe, that is why some peope are born colour blind.
Colour is used in all cultures for everything. Well-being, healing, courting & developing relationships, prayer & worship, just to name a few.
"Keep writing, never give in or up, and always talk hard!"

I'm a Libra, and you pegged me to a "T". I love reading anything about astrology, great essay.

My own sign is Pisces .
I would not fit in to the category you ascribe to me.unfortunately- We are by and large thought to be dreamers, artists, absentminded ,unfocused ; indigent to a degree - well I am anyway.
Short of temper is another flaw which I have in much abundance..we're a difficult lot really - but not inloved .
I would take issue with 2 points in an otherwise very well put together presentation.
Black is not a colour - It is the absence of colour.
White is either a combination of all the other colours- the VBGIR ect - all the colours of the rainbow are is composed of these its constituent parts.
You could also consider white to be the background against which all colour is judged / perceived.
But here's a problem- You look at a blue vase ; and rightly call it blue; but think - this vase has absorbed all the other colours shining on it- except blue - which it does not absorb and therefore rejects .And reflects .
The only colour it rejects therefore ,which it does not absorb or give any hospice or accommodation to ,- that is the coulour we ascribe to the vase,
Which incidentally we also see upside down anyway ??

This is very interesting. I myself am a capricorn. The mind is a very powerful thing, it follows that whatever we allow our minds to be touched by may have pwerful effects, with in or with out. It seems there was always alot more to science than there is anymore. It is interesting to find so much discarded as "magic" and "occult" that years before functioned so well for so many. I for one enjoy the mysticism that finds itself lost anymore in much of todays society. But thats just where i live, and the beauty of our world, if I want it, I can move to find it:) thank for this, i enjoyed it.
Posted: Aug 26, 2008
Great Job!! That was excellent. You must of done alot of research!!
Posted: Aug 26, 2008

Bubbly this is wonderful. I am an Aquarian and always wondered why I love my purple coat!!! If you have some time I have a colour poem up (of sorts) - Black Cat Dreaming. (My cat has the power - definitely!!)My husband is orange/Gemini - I guess purple/mauve and orange mix OK!!
Posted: Aug 27, 2008
Fascinating stuff, Bubbly! Never really thought about it like this before but colours in a room (or a shot of a film or a photo) clearly have a massive influence on the mood. (I'm allergic to yellow food colouring, so it's a good job I'm not a Leo!)
Posted: Aug 27, 2008
Am stuck between virgo and Libra...coz mythey both always end up being my stars at one point or another. But most of all....they are both partly true.
Nice thing you got this here Bubbly.

I just got a bit confused by the different colours in the text. I obviously understand why you used the colours but I found them a bit confusing.
Thank you for shring this anyway!

Posted: Aug 27, 2008
Essay is chocked full of information, sound advice and too many color changes. I recognize you wanted to use the color to emphasize the information linked to a specific color, however, in order to read the info, I had to highlight it. When my mind is moved from one emotion to another because of a simple barrier, I lose track of the importance of the reading and wander elsewhere to find something to captivate my interest.

Hi bubbly
I go with Dinesh. He is absolutely right. From use of colour & REIKI therapy we can do CHAKRA balance. In our body all CHAKRA's are in balance then our mind & body keep fit.

I've seen things very similar to this, but I've never seen colors, horoscopes, AND numbers (surprisingly, this is VERY similar to numerology, in the way number and how our world works around us, is pretty much what numerology is) used in such a way.
I say it's similar because in numerology, those exact same letters, in most contexts, are associated with the numbers you listed. Really odd the connections we can make, huh?
Interesting stuff.
Posted: Aug 29, 2008
Nice to know... Its verry long..

Posted: Aug 30, 2008
i want brown. Why is there no brown here??!!!
Posted: Aug 30, 2008
this is way cool :D
i studied numerology (in my free time) to make up the story 7-13 and so far i've learned even MORE :D
did you no that violet is the color of royalty? and its for the number 7 which is for spiritual perfection!
and gold like money, makes people greedy? and i recently found out that the number 9 deals alot with bad situations! o__o (had to research alot for that)
although i still am studying numerology on my own, and sometimes wonder if i'm making the right judgments on which number deals with what, you made me believe that i'm on the right track :D thanks!
p.s. the cancer is very true about me @__@
maybe i should post up something on booksie that explains my version of numerology :D
(yaay to inspiration!) :P

who is affected by the colors surrounding me. Red,

Greens, relax and put me to sleep. Blue, so cold I shiver. Browns & Beige, depression sets in...It is
amazing to note that Color's facets are many to so
few...Regards from another Green Libra.
