VALERIELYNN – If wishes were horses and dreams cametrue, then this is what we would all want. What do children desire – chocolates, ice cream, cakes, pop, etc etc. Valerie in her novel “the day it rained chocolate chips” has an eight-year-old Sadie, who loves chocolates. On her birthday she wishes that it rains (what else!) CHOCOLATES!. Does the wish come true? Read on. DREAMY
-
JAK SYLVIAN – Have you ever wondered about the lives of puppets, tied to the strings and dangled as someone wants with no wish of one’s own. No one would wish to be a puppet. This is the aspect Jak brings out sensitively in his poem “puppets”. A puppet is being manipulated by a string puller. He moves as the strings are pulled, much against his wishes. Does he have a say. NO! This is POWER PLAY!
-
PAOOHLIINA – Human beings love and romance so why can’t a vampire and a human love and be merry. Sounds strange, eh! But this is where the novelty lies. Paola in her novel “love bites!” brings forth the strange but not totally untrue love between a vampire and (who else!) a human being. 17-year-old Giulia Lena O’Malley falls for a vampire, 20-year-old Francois Antonio Smith. An unexpected twist too!
-
MIR WILDER – Most of us are addicted to something, be it chocolates, drinks, music or whatever. And we keep it a closely guarded secret for we don’t want others to know. Mir too has one in her poem “my secret addiction”. She loves whipped cream from the grocery store. Despite adding it to coffee with honey, she hasn’t gained an ounce! Now, now, that’s a CRIME, I would say.
-
FANTASY DECEPTION – We do not realize the worth of a person till the time s/he is there in our midst. We take them for granted or shall I say, casually. But once they are not there, we miss them and crave for their presence. Fantasy deception had brought out something like this in her poem “gone”. Her loving friend has passed away to eternity. There is nothing left but to – MOURN!
-
RIYUKE – Child abuse is so rampant that it is taken as part of life and swept under the carpet. Parents thrash them and derive a sadistic pleasure. What memories would the child have? This is where Riyuke’s novel “abused, broken and undead” comes in. Azula’s abusive parents torture her both physically and mentally. She lands up in a hospital. Should she live in an orphanage? A good option.
-
ANASTESIA STARLENA – Hmm. Memories are what we are made of. Dig into them and pull out a rabbit. They are like photo files. Some are pleasant and loving while others are otherwise. Anastesia’s poem “memories” is about this and more. Childhood can never be forgotten. Even though we grow up to be an adult, there is a child remaining within us that refuses to GROW. A peek.
-
ROTHWELLWRITES – If Anastesia can write about a departed childhood, can Christine be left behind? She in her poem “ever so precious” writes about a dear friend, who was snatched young at the cruel hands of death! Alexei Cherepanov has attained eternal sleep. There is disbelief at his young death. There is mourning and crying but solace too that the spirit remains. He is in peace. SOULFUL.
-
DRAGONSSONG – This is another beautiful verse about random thoughts when the mind wanders. This one will give you something to think about too. Missy in her dynamic and rhyming poem “empty thoughts” has the utmost darkest thoughts coming alive in sleep. So dark that the thought of light is scary. Mortality is ebbing by and life is fading into death. This nightmare should pass. SCARY.
-
DESPERATELY WANTING – Sometimes you don’t need many words to say what a mere nod or silence can state effectively. We read epics and we read a few lines and find meaning. The difference lies in length. As they say, brevity is the soul of wit. So, Desperately Wanting comes up with a brief poem “four lines” where she is finding it hard to keep pace with LIFE!

(Well, well. This week’s joke shows how the opposition stoops to conquer. Maligning, criticising, et al is all there. Enjoy the profanities. Crudity has become the order of the day and some demented souls actually laud it.)
Bill Clinton said, “I didn’t inhale.”
Barack Obama says, “I didn’t inject.”
Richard Nixon said “I am not a crook!”
Barack Obama says “I am not on crack!”
Harry Truman said, “The buck stops here!”
Barack Obama says, “Leave the bucks here!”
What’s the difference between Ross Perot and Barack Obama?
Ross Perot is crackpot with big ears; Barack Obama is a pothead with big ears.
