THREE QUARTERLY (NINE-10 MONTH) Review Issue

My weekly top 10 (39): (sept 21 – 27, 2008)

-
381. DONKYLEMORE – hope against the odds
382. KEITH KESSLER – the woman who had a husband
383. MARCUS AVERY – comfort zone
384. SOMEONECRAZY – trapped in darkness
385. TIGERCHILL – echoes of eternal whispers
386. EMOLUVER15 – forever yours
387. MONAWALSH - ejected
388. MARIA MENDOZA – episodes of the norm
389. KOMORI – komo-doubutsu chapter 1: lipagron’s decision
390. DISCOVEREDDREAM – forever friends
-
DONKYLEMORE – When we are young, we are brimming with all things positive. There is no tomorrow and nothing to worry about. And we don’t know what HOPE is. It is with advancing years and with the setting of maturity, hope becomes more than a word. This is where Don's poem “hope against the odds” comes into being. He hope for an eternal betterment. Flaming. SHAPELY
-
KEITH KESSLER – Well, well. This totally rocked me. Reading about henpecked husbands or dominant wives always tickles our funny-bone. Keith's short story “the woman who had a husband” is about his own personal experiences. He watches his wife’s ‘order’ly ways but can do little to change her. He does everything ‘wrong’ and she is left fuming. HILARIOUS.
-
MARCUS AVERY – Quite a few works are now about gays and lesbians. I must say, it is a healthy and positive trend. For they are different but part of our ‘straight’ society. Some states in the US have recently legalized their marriages. That is progress. Marcus's short story “comfort zone” is about Andrew and Caleb, a gay couple. Andrew falls for Teya. Caleb understands. SACRIFICING.
-
SOMEONECRAZY – If Don’s poem is about hope, Someonecrazy has reached the end of hope. The hopelessness is depicted in the darkness and total sadness that spills out of her poem “trapped in darkness”. She is looking for an outlet, finding a way towards light. Alas, even the lover has left her forlorn. Dejected, death offers solace. She accepts it. TRAGIC
-
TIGERCHILL – Love can be a pain, love can be a pleasure. Love is the most famous bitch of our lives. Although it is with us, yet we are still unsatisfied. Alas! What a dog man is. When I read Tiger's poem “echoes of eternal whispers” I was left wondering why we crave for more love. Till yesterday he was in love. Today he is being torn apart by it. Longing for yesterday!
-
EMOLUVER15 – Now, now. This must be the shoooooooooooooooooooooortest chapter of a novel in the history of literature. But hats off to Amanda for making it meaningful and interesting. Just four lines and 51 words! In her novel “forever yours” it is a warm summer day beating on her dark head. She is relaxed while walking towards the park. The wind was blowing away her troubles. FULL STOP!
-
MONAWALSH – This is going to be a treat for all sci-fi lovers. Mona brings up an extremely engrossing short story “ejected”. A Bievollati race killed by a nuclear war had the survivors frozen. Androids were programmed to keep alive their feelings. But they must drain all emotions once a week. And if they disobey, not only they are ejected, they are killed too. CRUEL
-
MARIA MENDOZA – Hmm. Why do we all write? It is not only to give an outlet to our creativity but to have a dialog with our readers and to get their feedback. Any work is an insight into the writer’s mind. Maria'sbook “episodes of the norm” is her endeavor to bring to light two authors’ works and be recognized and respected. It also supports AUTISM. UNIVERSAL
-
KOMORI – There is something magical about it, something surrealistic. It is like scaling a new peak. There is adventure and a sense of achievement. Something new is being read and it is a peek into the writer’s mind. Komori in his script “komo-doubutsu chapter 1: lipagron’s decision” has a boy, who has been bestowed with the Great Animals (Doubutsu) powers. DESTINY
-
DISCOVEREDDREAM – We all at some point or the other have had a ‘fight’ with our family or friends. This is just a release of our strong emotions or letting out the steam. Otherwise, we wouldn’t want to hurt them in any way. Helen in her poem “forever friends” has a friend Monster, who had issues with his family. She realizes family always comes before friends. Friendly and Famili(ar)

(Well, this week’s joke is about prettiness! Read on.)
-
Obama Is So Pretty
Obama is so pretty that:
the new symbol of the Democrat Party will be a unicorn
Bill Clinton wants to intern for him
the White House Rose Garden will need to triple in size
his anti-matter version is James Carville
his supporters think that he's smart
he won't ride in Ted Kennedy's car
he would be a 10 if his Daddy owned a liquor store
he would even look good in a Hillary pantsuit
when he goes to Iraq he has to wear a Burqa
he gives John Edwards makeup tips
his mirror on the wall was struck speechless
he can wear white after Labor Day
-
until next week...CHEERS!... and lots of luv and kisses...and...and...(I said SHUT UP!!!)
