SPAXX – World Friendship Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of August. This year it was celebrated on August 03, 2008. Winnie the Pooh is the world ambassador of friendship. Renee’s friends have moved on after the school. Her poem “promise me we will be friends forever” is a call to them. A lovely poem reminding us of a great day gone by. Friendly

ELIZA WOLLENSTONE – You have a room with a window and a view. For some it is the world view. For the glimpse you get through it, gives you a total idea of what lies outside. It must be pretty fascinating for Eliza to compose her poem “ode to the window”. The girl is confined to a room with a window offering exotic view. She admires the window. She loves the view.
-
CATH09 – Parents have high expectations from their children. What they couldn’t achieve in their life, they wish their children to fulfill. And this can be pretty taxing and take a toll on the young ones. Catherine has a teenager Harper I her book “(undecided)” who leaves home to discover her true self and away from her parents’ expectations. Does she find what she had set out for? Engrossing.
-
DA ONE – Most of us have Dan Brown’s famous novel “The Da Vinci Code”. Most of us have seen Ron Howard’s film based on this novel by the same name. There was a controversy. Da One is irked by people calling Dan Brown false. In his book review “is “the da vinci code” right or wrong?” The novel can be false but how can the novelist be so? Interesting premise.
-
WEREWOLFWYETH - Hmm. Stalkers are a nightmare. They can be a thoroughly bad experience, no victim would want to relive. Even narrating the happenings can be frightening. Samuel Oliver Wyeth in his book “love can be different chapter 1” has Violet Smith, who is pursued by a stalker. She receives a letter from the stalker to meet him. He knows everything…about her! Fearsome.
-
NITROLAD – A lover expresses herself in many ways. She can be loud, she can be quiet. It all depends on her mood. Nitrolad in his poem “you’re just like water” describes one such girl, who has all the mad qualities. She is like water, tantalizing yet near enough. She can be verbal as well as tearful. She is envious as well as angry. Quite a handful girl.
-
MOHAMMED AL DAMEN – We have heard of sibling rivalry but here it is about brotherly love. Mohammed in his short story “the brothers sword” has a prince Pablo. He has to find the swords. He meets his brother Zach. Pablo gets the good sword but Zack gets the evil one and kills people. Pablo kills him. But he loves Zach dearly so he ends his own life. Tragic.
-
JMODI – Although Valentine’s Day is long gone, this tale will move you hugely. Jmodi in his novel “(the real) the tragic during valentines” has Emily and Edward deeply in love. They plan to get married on the Valentine’s Day. Before her wedding, she finds Edward was having an affair with Jessica. She confronts him. Jessica is murdered. Edwards admits to killing her. But did he…? SUSPENSE!
-
DREAMING OF YOU – Now, now. Who would have thought what powers a lifeless stone park bench holds? I wouldn’t say any at all but then I am wrong as well as many of us. Terry in his poem “the park bench” has the bench in the garden for many centuries. A couple had courted there. Now, people sitting there, feel their ‘presence’ and some have seen their ghosts. Spirit(ual).
-
TEXNIX – Moonlight is romantic and holds a special significance for the lovers. For they can walk and walk even in that dim light and still not be lost. Garry in his poem “moon light” remembers the good old times he had spent with his lover. She had left but her memories remained. It is a moonlit night. His desire for her is still alive. A tear rolls down. Soulful.

(Well, this week joke can raise the car parkers’ heckles. So, beware!)

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day I went downtown and into a shop. I was only there for about five minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break'? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a 'Nazi.' He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.' He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, “Obama in ‘08.” I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important to my health.
